Trail Obstacle Training
2023 - June 17, August 5
Obstacle training develops calmness, balance, responsiveness to aides, and trust between horse and rider, using objects and terrain found/encountered on the trail and in the "real world". It carries over to any type of riding in all disciplines, and is beneficial for horses and riders at any age and stage of training. We welcome riders and horses new to the trail obstacle experience.
A variety of "interesting" objects and challenges will be set up around the arena, and you will be free to experiment with and experience them at your own pace in a safe and supervised environment in-hand and under saddle.
Three trail obstacle open ride times are available (9am - 11am, 11:30am - 1:30 pm, 2pm-4pm) with up to 15 horse/rider pairs during each time window. Tickets prices will be $10.00 per time window for LWSC members and $20 per time window for non-members, and must be paid in advance during online registration.
Due to Covid restrictions, social distancing will be required. Spectators are not allowed, however participants who are minors can bring one parent or guardian.
The trail obstacle challenge under saddle will be held during each time window. All horses/rider pairs registered for that time window are eligible to enter the Trail Obstacle Challenge. Overall first place adult and youth riders will be announced and contacted after the show and prizes will be awarded at that time.
