Acheson Equestrian Obstacle Course
The Acheson property is a five acre parcel located across the street from the Park on the east side of 132nd Ave. NE. It was donated to State Parks by Mrs. Lois Acheson. Mrs. Acheson was an avid equestrian and loved Bridle Trails State Park. Mrs. Acheson stipulated that the donation was contingent upon it being used for equestrian and pedestrian purposes.
With State Parks support and approval, Lake Washington Saddle Club has created an equestrian obstacle course throughout the property along with a round pen and sand arena. Currently, access to the property is ride/walk in only. There is no trailer parking. There is a porta potty onsite from approximately April thru October. There are picnic benches and a hitching post. The following directions will take you from the main parking lot at the showgrounds through the park trails to the Acheson property.

Directions from Main Parking Lot
|
From the main parking lot at Bridle Trails State Park showgrounds, follow the Brown Coyote trail (paw print) as shown by the image to the right.
The trail map above shows the route marked in red. Watch for Coyote (paw print) signposts along the route. There is a point that you will need to leave the Coyote trail to get to 132nd Ave and cross the street to the Acheson property. There will be an Acheson sign with a left turn arrow on the trail post (see image). Turn left at this trail sign for Acheson and go down the hill all the way to the street. You will need to cross the street and go left alongside the road for about 50 ft. From the road you can see another sign for Acheson pointing to the right. Be safe - There are mounting blocks on both sides of the street, please use them if you are unsure your horse will be okay being ridden alongside the road even for a short distance. Go to that driveway entrance. The entrance path is in the driveway on the left before you get to the closed white entrance gate. |
