General Information
- All points earned in classes will count towards LWSC Academy Year End Awards. Must be a LWSC member and work at least 8 volunteer hours to qualify for year-end awards.
- Ribbons awarded to 8th place. Champion and Reserve ribbons for each Ring 1 division. There are two divisions (equitation and jumpers) per age group (Jr. and Sr.) and height (18", 2', 2'3").
- Trotting courses and simple changes of lead are not penalized in any equitation round though rounds will be judged on consistency of pace and timeliness of lead changes.
- Optimum time: crossbars and 18" will be a brisk trot with some canter. 2' and 2'3" will be a slow, steady canter. Optimum times will be posted on courses. Times to be determined by our course designer.
- Judges may penalize or eliminate any riders deemed reckless or unsafe at the judges discretion.
- Flat classes will be split to canter if necessary. Classes will be combined if fewer than 3 entries. Junior and Senior divisions may be combined if entries warrant (at the discretion of show management).
- Show will be considered full at 200 rides for the day.
- Show will start at 8:30 am (subject to number of entries). Show Office will open at 7:30 am.
- Schooling will be open by 6pm on the day prior to the show.
- The small Ring 2 will operate on the Danish system. Blue, red and yellow ribbons will be awarded by the judge based on performance during the round. A blue ribbon round will have a steady rhythm, correct leads or diagonals, and clean jumping efforts. A red ribbon round will maybe have a missed diagonal, a rail, or unsteady gaits. A yellow ribbon round will have refusals or rails.
- Ring 2 schedule: Ground poles 9:00-11:00; Crossbars 11:30 start.
- Equitation on the Flat classes are group, flat (non-jumping) classes.
- Equitation A and B are courses of 7-9 fences judging the rider's form and control of their horse.
- Jumper rounds 1, 2, and 3 are courses of 7-9 fences judged on number of knockdowns, refusals and closest to an optimum time.
- You do not have to enter all classes in any one division. Jumpers and Equitation are separate divisions with separate champion/reserve winners.
- Horses are limited to 7 classes per show.
- We are anticipating large numbers and will run open cards on a California split rather than age divisions.

Volunteering
All members are encouraged to volunteer to help their club. Volunteerism not only builds camaraderie, but is essential for us to continue the low cost, fun events that we hold. There are some distinct advantages to volunteering as well. All members who perform 8 hours of volunteering are eligible for year-end awards at our annual awards banquet. Please stop in at the ribbon tent to offer your services. There are all sorts of positions available -- from handing out ribbons, to jump crew, to running the back gate. Make sure to sign in for your hours to count! This is a great opportunity to develop skills and contacts for a paid, rated horse show job and to learn more about horse show management. The Lake Washington Saddle Club is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Many employers provide matching funds for charitable contributions and/or volunteer time. Be sure to check with your employer to find out if employer matching is available - you may be able to double your contribution!
